The New Idec HMI Is Built For IIOT
IDEC corporation has released the new HG2J Series 7” touchscreen HMI. The HMI has several hardware and software advancements that make it easier to use for any industrial application.
Improvements include:
- A projected capacitive touch panel (PCAP) that is wear-resistant, won’t turn yellow in the sun, and has a higher tolerance for water.
- Wide temperature range of -4 to +140°F
- Features two USB ports, serial connectivity, and one Ethernet port.
- The USB ports enable connectivity with accessories such as Bluetooth dongles, speakers, and barcode readers.
- A built-in symbol library with over 10,700 images helps users rapidly create cutting-edge graphics.
- Free tech support.
The HG2J HMI is ideal for industrial internet of things (IIoT) applications. The HG2J supports over 100 serial and Ethernet industrial communication protocols, providing connectivity with most PLC makes and models and making it. The HMI allows simultaneous use of up to four protocols. A built-in web server provides remote access functionality for PCs and
mobile devices just as if the user were in front of the HMI itself. The Email functionality allows sending alarm logs, data values, screenshots, and more.
The HMI also supports posting on Twitter. Most people (including me) may be thinking, why would you want to post to Twitter. This is perfect for parking garages and amusement parks where you wish to notify a large group of people about something. For example, a parking garage is full.
I found the units very easy to program once you figure out a few small things unique about their software. I plan to create a specific post going over this in detail, but under resources, is a link to a video made by others.
